With the exhibition Half a Century of Trnsko – the Story of a Generation, we presented the first fully planned and urbanised neighbourhood of Novi Zagreb. In the area of Novi Zagreb (part of the City of Zagreb located south of the Sava River) the plan was to construct 25 such residential communities but only a few of them were completed. The exhibition explored the urban concept that tackled the city’s biggest problem at the time – the lack of apartments, caused by mass migrations amid industrialization processes. At the same time, the exhibition reminded of Zagreb’s development on the right bank of the Sava River. An important part of the exhibition focused on everyday life in the neighbourhood and told the story about people connecting with each other and creating “the neighbourhood spirit”.
