Duration: May/June 2018
The collaboration between Trnjanska Elementary School and Zagreb City Museum came naturally on the occasion of the research-based exhibition Trnje – Space and People.
Trnjanska Elementary School is located on the Sava River, one of the symbols of Zagreb. It is therefore not surprising that the art competition Life Along the Sava River has been held since 2013. It aims to show how the present-day children – future visionaries and city and country decision-makers – feel about the Sava. This art competition encourages children’s critical and creative thinking, and at the same time, these works show us how children truly experience the Sava environment. The competition included the schools in Croatia located in the cities and neighbourhoods along the Sava River. The exhibition Life Along the Sava at the Zagreb City Museum presented the best student works.
Simultaneously with the exhibition Trnje – Space and People, we carried out an educational museum action on the topic of Boat and came up with a special programme. We held workshops titled My Neighbourhood Along the Sava where the participants learned about the Sava River, river flood damage, as well as about leisure activities at the bathing area in summer and numerous other roles of the Sava in the life of Zagreb.
